Minutes from May 2007

(Faith was unable to attend, so Mr. Kahl compiled the minutes.)

The Meeting was opened by Nancy Richter with 8 in attendance. After approving last month's mintues, we began with the treasurer report. We are close to closing the books for the year. We ended the concessions year with $20446.94 in profit, about $6000 over our budget. Thank you to everyone for an outstanding year. We were at or below budget in most categories as well. We currently have $18454.48 in the account, with only the Band Banquet expenses remaining. Mr. Kahl will enter this figure into the spreadsheet and update accounts. It looks like most workers will earn about $17 per night, and the athletic cut will be about $750.

Old Business:
Uniform designs are still being discussed with Pat Butler from Stanbury. Mr. Kahl has given Pat the initial sketches. He will give us some original designs that we can use to make the sample. Fundraising ideas were discussed as follows:
-Sponsors for the 07-08 season (already available to marching band members)
-Approach NW State Bank once the sample is prepared
-A Wal-mart car wash will be held at least once this summer (Nancy will contact)
-A Battle of the Bands will be held at NWHS for the School Account (not Boosters)
-A Bluegrass or Rock concert held at the NW Fairgrounds for the community. We discussed a free public concert with donations accepted.

Concessions committee is working on a handbook. This should be ready for the fall.

Thank you for the lock-in and concert. The students really enjoyed it.

Band Banquet plans were finalized, covering dinnerware, fried chicken, sandwiches. A reminder was given about the composite pictures being available.

New Business:
Since a cookout is being held by the school, we found no need for a 5th grade cookout, so plans were cancelled.

Officer elections were held. The following people were nominated and elected:
President Carrie Slone
Vice President Janice Embry
Treasurer Debbie Crase
Secretary Faith Stivers

The Firemen's Festival booth was discussed. After discussion regarding a fundraiser, it was decided that we would have a game booth for younger students. We will play "Hillbilly Golf" for a small price TBD, giving three levels of prizes. Mr. Kahl will order the prizes and contact the firehouse with details. Debbie will supply the game supplies.

The upcoming calendar was reviewed.

The 2007 Marching Band show was discussed, along with the calendar and fees. More details about props and uniforms will be known in June.

The FY 2007-08 budget is currently being developed.

The next meeting will be held TUESDAY JUNE 26 at 7:00 PM.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.
